Maca Root is a superfood and super libido booster! I have a tendency to get way too excited about Maca. I think you’ll see why…
Maca came into my life years ago. Long before our libido boosting journey. I’m a self proclaimed health nut. I grew up on lentils and brussel sprouts; I suppose I was groomed to eat healthily.
Anyway, I read about the incredible health benefits of Maca and knew that I had to incorporate it into my diet. Unfortunately, I had to stop using it…but more on that later.
What Is Maca?
The Maca herb is a Peruvian root vegetable grown in the Andes Mountains. The Maca plant is so powerful compared to other root vegetables.
Maca Root is grown in such harsh conditions that it sucks up minerals from the earth just to survive. We ingest the root and all those earthly minerals. So, we reap the benefits of the harsh Andes conditions.
The Peruvians grow it and consume it. They use it for every ailment/disease known. Reminds me of the Windex bottle in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Got a cut? Spray Windex on it. Fortunately, Maca is much more realistic than Windex.
Benefits of Maca
Maca extract is loaded with vitamins and minerals. It helps regulate our bodily functions. Take a look:
- Boost Energy
- Helps With Sleep
- Regulates Menstruation Cycles
- Regulates Menopausal Symptoms
- Helps Adrenal Gland Function
- Helps With Stress And Anxiety
- Give You Greater Stamina
- Balances Hormones
- Increases Womanly Curves
What about Libido?
Maca is the mecca of libido boosting herbs. It contains sterols that are believed to block the production of estrogen and boost testosterone. This leads to both men and women (yes women produce testosterone) feeling hornier…I mean more sexual. Speaking of the reproductive area, it also helps with infertility and erectile dysfunction.
Maca is an extraordinary sex enhancing agent; it will rock your world!
Maca Root Side Effects
I’m pleased to say that the side effects are minimal. I mentioned that this herb increases curves. This is why I had to quite taking it. Great for those who are not already curvy, but not for those of us curvier ladies. Or those who have a tendency to be curvy. Here are other side effects of Maca:
- Increased Appetite
- Cramping Around Menstrual Period
- Possible Insomnia (If taken too much)
- Increased Heart rate
Always consult a doctor before using. Especially if, you have thyroid disease, allergies to Maca, kidney disease, or liver disease.
Start Small!! The Maca Powder is the best form of the supplement. If consuming the Maca supplement in powder form, stick to 1 tablespoonful/day. Be sure to cycle the herb. Take Maca Four days on and 3 days off. Take an entire week off every month. Tolerance kicks in if you do not cycle!
I don’t have any specific Maca recipes. I would blend it into my morning green drink. It needs honey to sweeten it up!!! It is extremely fibrous and thick so blend, blend, blend!
